Created attachment 52878 [details]
New columns added are not saved in .xls format

I was adding an extra column to this sheet daily and then saving.

I noticed a couple of days after 20 Oct 2011 that the new daily columns were being discarded with out warning.

note that when saving to xls format (excel 2003 & earlier), there is no way to preserve any additional columns, as Excel 2003 only supports 256 columns (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/excel-specifications-and-limits-HP005199291.aspx )

However LO should show a data-loss warning in this case.

The warning appears now. I just downloaded the xls file given, added a column, and tried to save from LO and received a warning that there would be data loss. Should this be marked as closed?

Sounds good to me.
