It would be nice to have caption on formula fields, where it's possible to change the size of the caption and the formula field size isn't changed, the formula is centered automatically and/or alignment of the caption is changeable.
formula left and caption right.

What do you call a Formula field? 
  * a formula object (menu Insert / Object / Formula )
  * or a field computing an expression (obtained by hitting F2)

In the first case, you can already add captions on those objects. In the second case you need to precise your needs and give some use cases as these fields are normally used only as some bits of text.

In all cases, you can handle captions using frames and sequence fields.

I'm closing this as not a bug, as it's already possible to insert captions in both cases. Feel free to reopen if there is something I missed.
