The Gallery has a lot of junk items by default. And - even if it didn't, many users don't like some of the gallery items, and would like to be able to delete them via the Gallery sidebar UI. Yet - that's not possible. It should be.

I realize, of course, that the default items in the gallery are shared, and are not user-specific. But we can have user-specific information about which shared gallery items have been deleted by the user, so that they don't appear in the user's view of the gallery. 

(If the strategy of bug 131529 is adopted, there will be no share and implementing this should be easy; but - I don't necessarily support that approach.)

Whether adding or deleting, you change content in the read-only space. => DUP of bug 131529

Fair point. 

s/many users/all users I have asked about various gallery items, and I believe many users overall/ 

but I trust you're not claiming that all but a few users of the gallery like all gallery items...?
