(Ventura 13.3.1, Mac mini M1)

It's likely to be a memory issue. CleanMyMac gives me low memory warnings at times. But no other app crashes with regularity like LO.

What version of Mac do you use?
What's the macOS version?
Does it use Intel x86-64 or Apple Silicon ?

7.2.X versions are obsolete. You should upgrade to LO 7.5.7
For first one, you can use:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/?type=mac-x86_64&version=7.5.7&lang=en
for second one:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/?type=mac-aarch64&version=7.5.7&lang=en

Finally, if you still reproduce this, you can try:

Well then there was/is a problem with the update process. I clicked on it before and nothing happened so I assumed that there was no update available for my situation. Now I do the same and it tells me an update is available which I am downloading now.

Updates proposed concern versions of the same branch, eg:
if someone has 7.5.3, the proposed version will be 7.5.7 not 7.6.2.

For the rest, could you please respond to the questions from my previous comment?

I included all the answers in a previous comment

(Ventura 13.3.1, Mac mini M1)

Indeed, I was wrong.
Since you use M1, you can try this page:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/?type=mac-aarch64
try LO 7.5.7 or LO 7.6.2.
Before installing, please remove any LO package installed on your machine.

I caught the discrepancy before and installed 7.5.7.1
I will let you know if I have the same problem.
Thanks for your help.
