This File menu was in the middle of the screen

I can't quite figure a pattern for this, but menus in Calc or Writer randomly are placed somewhere else on the screen, instead of dropping from the menu bar under their menu item. Moving the mouse over where the menu should be, results in the highlight moving in the menu, a process that feels like the cursor is being teleported/translated on both axes.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Writer.
2. Open another application.
3. Click on the window of another application and make sure focus is on the other application's window.
4. Right-click on the Writer window.

Expected result:
Right-click context menu shown inline

Actual result:
Right-click context menu shown with its own title bar, with soffice.bin as the title, on the top left of the screen.
