irregular output using the --help parameter while starting soffice
Strange! This morning after restarting the PC the problem still exixts. I've started to find any useful additional information. The only quirky issue is the output starting soffice.exe in a cmd-window with the parameter --help. After a while a new window is presented which contains only the last part of the messages, see attached screenprint. It is possible to see in sysinternals process-explorer that this new terminal window is launched by soffice.bin. I looked at all entries in the registry referring LibreOffice but none of the numerous entries found seemed to be irregular. Finally, I started LIBO again by double clicking the icon and 7.4.6.2 started as expected. Oh wonder! Such the problem is currently no longer reproducible. In the meantime 7.5.2.2 works also correctly here. No issues with launching LIBO in this release. It came to my mind what might be the reason for observed problems: The number of processed files was growing and growing and might have reached well above 100 files. I don't know if LIBO performs any housekeeping there in file registrymodifications.xcu. Since I have deleted the full path C:\Users\rolf\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\ I have no chance to look further on this issue. Thank you for the report and the detailed testing, Rolf. As you can't reproduce anymore with a new profile, I'll close as "works for me", but please set back to "unconfirmed" if it reappears and you can provide more information. Thank you! On another new PC the problem reappeared: After upgrading a runnung Version of 7.4.6 to 7.5.3 LIBO didn't start any more. After download of the installation file for 7.5.3 and starting the installation the usual question popped up, if the existing installation should be removed. This was accepted. After the installation pressing the newly allocated button for LIBO on the screen nothing happend! So we completely removed the existing 7.5.3 installation using System Control > Programs and Features. An Reboot was done and after that the installation of LIBO was repeated. The result: 7.5.3 now starts without any problems. |
