I think, this behaviour is independend from tables. So the idea is to have a setting like "optimal" in control properties? I opened your test document and I have no problem adjusting the row heights With the group text box, are you referring to that e.g., the p and g in Superking is cut off due to lack of space in the box? If you post and image of what you see it would be Which version are you on?
