The version you're using is outdated. Can you please try with a daily build as available at [1] and report back whether it's working there? [1] https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Android-ARM@24-Bytemark-Hosting/ Downloaded and installed daily build. It also did not associate file types with apps. I cannot reproduce; it works fine for me with both, odg and odp files with a local master build based on commit 78d4e78c43f688a3617d659774d985d466bb39dc. I could reproduce this with another device. According to my analysis, this is an issue with Samsung's "My files" app, s. tdf#125317 for more details.
