That's the problem. LibO is not so influent yet to radicalize it this way.
It's happening with the Save icon, with icon packs slowly phasing out the floppy disk in favor of a down arrow.
I only know a few programs that use this symbol. Also, the save button has the same position in all apps, it's easier to find.
I don't think it would be that confusing -- the clipboard icons would all have a connecting element.
But it will be harder to find these icons at the first time. People search for an icon based in its default symbol. They will take some time to figure out and to get used to the new symbology.
