Description ricky.tigg 2022-02-25 18:54:29 UTC
Description:
Items listed against the object class 'Hyperlinks' are de facto arranged according to the chronological order, which is also the unique mode of arrangement available for that object class.

Steps to Reproduce:
In Navigator

Actual Results:
However an inspection aimed at rectifying invalid hyper-links will prove to be most inefficient while a such order is applied.

Expected Results:
The inspection will prove to be far more efficient while the alphabetical order is applied.

Proposal: to add options 'Chronological order' and 'Alphabetical order' in this regard.

Reproducible: Always

We have the same idea or bookmarks (see bug 86395). So I don't see a reason why we shouldn't improve navigator for hyperlinks in the same way.

This has been requested a couple of times:

bug 86395 Allow sorting of bookmarks in the navigator in two ways: alphabetically and by order in document
bug 135043 RFE sort objects in Navigator in "user-friendly" way
bug 104255 Allow alphabetical sorting of headings

bug 91734 Bookmarks not sorted alphabetically

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 86395 ***

> This has been requested a couple of times:

Sorry, I've only found bug 86395 and the proposal here is focused on hyperlinks. So my question is, if it would be more helpful to have bug 135043 as meta bug with bug 86395 (bookmarks), bug 147658 (Hyperlinks) and bug 104255 (Headings) as dependent bugs?
Comment 5 Heiko Tietze 2022-03-11 09:44:33 UTC
I'd expect that implementation of sorting is not restricted to one type of content. Don't see much need for a meta ticket. But that's also a question to Jim if the implementation requires multiple patches.
