Description Mark Brown 2013-03-25 20:00:22 UTC
Version 4.0.1.2 (Build ID: 84102822e3d61eb989ddd325abf1ac077904985)

Successful in recording and saving a macro in spreadsheet as follows:
Paste into a cell ( a comma delimited string of numbers ).
Data -> Text to columns …
OK in the dialog box
Warning “You are pasting data into cells that already contain data.
Do you really want to overwrite the existing data?”
Press yes
Stop recording and save.
When macro is run, the text string is entered but NOT converted to columns.
Yet if the steps are run by hand the conversion is done properly.

There are very many known problems with Macro recording - this is why the feature is disabled by default, and marked as an 'Experimental' feature, with no real prospect of it ever leaving that categorisation :-)

Which leaves only the question of what to do about this bug I guess.

Hello Mark, *,
as Michael has written, it will maybe never fixed, so I set this bug as an enhancement request. Maybe some kind dev will find a solution in the future, but I will not make any promise ... ;)
Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.

As already said - I'm taking this as a problem (as the record feature is a mess and experimental) Moving to NEW and adding it to the meta tracker bug
