Description ChrisMiami 2012-01-21 16:21:03 UTC
drag-fill works only linearly (cannot fill both directions at once)

Thanks for new idea
Currently we should drag first in one direction then in another. This may have reason. By default Calc does auto-increment during drag. By separate dragging in different direction we can control incrementing of values. Vertical and horizontal separately.

Confirm that this is still present in 3.6.0.4

MS Excel allows for this two-way expansion of filling cells. So there may be user who expect the same experience. Google Spreadsheets operates the same as LibreOffice.

Confirm present in 7.3.0.3
Menu > Sheet > Fill Cells, also only offers Down or Right or Left or Up.

Documentation (Calc Guide 7.0) contains this phrase: "Click and drag in the direction you want the cells to be filled, vertical or horizontal." [not both apparently]

So if this non-bug ends up being an Enhancement, it affects several spots.

Version: 7.3.0.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 0f246aa12d0eee4a0f7adcefbf7c878fc2238db3
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

(I see same behavior on Mac - Calc 7.1.0.3)
