Sounds fair, but as there is no distinction between "while typing" and "apply" like there is in Writer, it would be a single on/off switch for the whole of the AutoCorrect rules. Hi Stephane, can you say more about there being "no distinction between "while typing" and "apply" like there is in Writer" in Calc? Conceptually, at least, it seems like such a distinction is easily retained: 1) Autocorrect could apply as I'm typing in a cell. 2) Autocorrect could apply to the current cell after I move to the next cell. 3) Autocorrect could be applied on command to a cell or group of cells. I admit that the first two cases are functionally equivalent, even if they act differently (the person sees the autocorrections in "real time" versus seeing them applied after the fact), but it still seems that one could wish to turn off Autocorrect in general, but subsequently wish to apply autocorrect to a particular group of cells but not to others. I hope such functionality would be implemented. Conceptually, > at least, it seems like such a distinction is easily retained: What I meant was that there is currently no separate "M" and "T" columns in Tools > AutoCorrect Options > Options and Localized Options. Therefore, the switch could be a simple on/off that does not need to specify "while typing". But you're right, I can see how having the same options as Writer ("While typing" for live changes, "Apply" for select cells or existing file, and "Apply and Edit Changes" for reviewing) would be useful, despite the lack of M vs T distinction in the rules. |
