Didnt see the option in Excel and the functions in Format > Spacing also dont work and dont know enough to judge what would be useful for a spreadsheet, so i'll leave it to the experts. Regina, Cor, Stuart, Heiko: Ball in your corner. Never thought Calc as a text processor where line spacing is a relevant option. If Thomas is right and users enter a lot of text the paragraph style properties are relevant, if not it's another overkill complicating the UI. Timur, what's your opinion? Eike: Any thoughts on this enhancements? Yes. I see an interoperability nightmare. If you really have that much text in a spreadsheet cell that you need individual line spacing then better use a text box ie. rectangle shape, which does support line spacing. Fwiw, you can also change the row height and under Format Cells Alignment change Vertical to Distributed and activate "Wrap text automatically". Eike, thanks for your thoughts. Spreadsheets will not only used for formula. Sense and nonsense of the use of spreadsheets for text content is an academic discussion that doesn't help real world use cases. The idea behind this bug report is readability and to have good-looking spreadsheets. Now with many fonts, wrapped content (not only text) looks densed and bad readable. Saved as non-odf it's right that this option will be lost. Is there no other LibO setting that is causing a similar problem Currently we can: 1 change cell styles 2 set horizontal alignment and add left indent 3 set fixed row height for selected rows (not adaptable) 4 set optimal row height for selected rows and add spacing cell(upper border)-text 5 set vertical alignment including justified or similar distributed Looks like there are different formatting options although not all is automated if we want both spacing cell-text and text-text. What's not really available is what's requested here: add text line spacing. Such look now can be achieved only manually, using steps 3-5, but only row by row, not as a general solution using styles or single command. So, this would come in handy, albeit for a few users. I'd keep this one as New, with lowest priority enhancement. *** Bug 112497 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
